At first we didn't think we would be doing many resprays as it is very labor intensive and economically challenging to compete with the cost of a pre-painted factory frame. How wrong we were! We now do brand new frames, upgrade older frames, restoration work to old school steel and BMX bikes, pretty much anything and everything you can think of. We are more than happy to give your bike that paint job you have always dreamed of and make it really stand out. We have learnt that fellow cyclists and those that are passionate about bikes in the same way as us are happy to pay for a job well done. Resprays start from about $650 for a single basic colour but can go as high as your imagination (or bank balance!) allows. Something really complex with lots of masking and line work may nudge the $2000 mark and it is not uncommon for Full Custom airbrush jobs to go past $3000! As expensive as this may sound the one thing you can be sure of is that it will be a one of a kind creation, even a work of art on wheels that you can truly call your own.
Rather than fill this page with a heap of pictures (head to our galleries or social media pages for plenty more examples) we have just included a few of the special jobs we have had the pleasure of being a part of over the past few months. The Cervelo above looks great as a complete build and was a lot more complex that it may look at first glance with each individual square needing its own mask and/or stencil. The Joker below shows the talent of our airbrush artist and the amount of detail that can be achieved. The Ritte is also pretty special, we have clear coated the stainless steel which is also not as easy as it may sound. Then of course the BMC with Aboriginal Art and a New Zealand twist. This was a tribute and variation of the Cadel Evans farewell BMC gifted to him upon his retirement. All these are examples of what can be done and show how we can turn whatever idea you have be that big, small, wild or whacky into reality.
Our Ceramic Clearcoat offering has been a huge hit! We have had many brand new frames come in to be Ceramic Clearcoated for their owners before they start their chosen build. One of the best applications of the Ceramic Clear option is when a factory painted frame has been given a Matte clear and you would prefer a shiny Gloss finish. This will not only bring out and 'pop' the original colours but it will also protect the paint underneath and become more resistant to chips and damage from day to day use as well as a Whole Lot easier to keep clean! On a brand new frame this costs about $275.
PPG's CeramiClear® clearcoat was the first clearcoat to use nanoparticle technology to achieve a previously unattainable level of scratch, mar, and etch resistance. This patented technology creates a hard, silica-like surface that provides superior resistance to damage caused by day-to-day use, washing and environmental hazards such as acid rain and tree sap.
The CeramiClear clearcoat from PPG Industries is the final original equipment manufacturer coating applied to a vehicle and it protects the color coat while providing a durable, glossy appearance. "CeramiClear clearcoat is unmatched in scratch, mar and acid-etch resistance and retention of gloss throughout a vehicle's lifecycle," said Dennis Taljan, global director, decorative products for PPG. "We actually had to create a new, tougher test procedure for CeramiClear clearcoat since no automotive coating had achieved this level of mar resistance before."
